Ginni Otto, 75, of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully on September 4, 2025. She was born in Brooksville, Kentucky to Alberta Daugherty, who preceded her in death.

Ginni dedicated her life to serving others as a local pastor for many years. She was deeply loved by her congregation and community, remembered for her selflessness and compassion. Whether visiting parishioners in the hospital, conducting weddings, or comforting families through funerals, Ginni lived her faith in every act of kindness. Her greatest joys were her relationship with God, her church, and her beloved husband, Jerry Otto.

One Sunday morning Ginni visited St. John’s United Methodist Church and her faith was ignited. She made many lasting friends in the church. Ginni had a number of jobs and careers during her life, but when she became a United Methodist pastor she found her true calling. She loved the churches she served. The people she met in the churches were always close in her heart. Ginni was a published author, she wrote a book entitled, “Walking With God”.

Ginni participated in mission trips with her churches where she helped with home construction working to provide shelter for homeless people. She loved to travel. Ginni went to Israel with a dear friend to visit historic Christian sites. She traveled with Jerry to Thailand, where she enjoyed the culture and the people. She also enjoyed to cook and watch cooking shows. Ginni loved her corgis, Gatsby and Belle. They were constant companions in the last few years. They even visited her during a hospital stay.

Ginni is survived by her husband, Jerry; her sisters, Cheryll and Tessa; brother, Jack; and her corgis, Belle and Gatsby.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Linn Grove United Methodist Church, 7483 50th Avenue in Prole, Iowa.
