William "Bill" T. Cahail

William “Bill” Theodore Cahail of Des Moines, Iowa, died at the Des Moines VA Hospital Medical Center on October 26, 2025.

Bill was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa, to Ralph and Naomi Winebrenner. He joined the United States Navy in 1957 and went on to retire from the Navy. Bill was also employed by the United States Postal Service and would later retire from.

Bill is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Tracy) Cowden of Ogden, and Katherine (David Lundberg) Cahail of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Wesley Johnson of Des Moines, Elizabeth (Aiden) Fogarty of Slater; and Ashley Cowden of Ames; and his great-grandson, Isaac Fogarty.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, Thomas Cahail; and friends, John Solhjem, Jr. and Darla Ogg.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a short prayer at 10:00 on Friday, October 31, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home; 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial of urn will be held following the Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery; 34024 Veterans Memorial Drive, Adel.
