Wayne White

Wayne Vern White, 88, passed away July 7, 2026. He was born October 11, 1937 to Florence and George White in Afton, Iowa. Wayne worked and retired from John Deere after many years as a cotton picker assembler. He was a Master Sargent in the Army Reserve for 23 years. He was a hard worker and enjoyed staying busy. Wayne was willing to help anyone in need at church, home, and work. He owned and operated White Home Improvements for many years as well. He enjoyed word puzzles and playing games on his tablet as well. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte White; children, Kelly White, Kim (Bruce) Vanderpool, and Kirby (Karen) White; grandchildren, Lisa (Ryan) Kirkpatrick, Katie (Jon) Evans, Sara (Colby) Allen, Allison (Grant) Pinkley, Adam (Allie) White, Hannah (Taylor) Sweeney, Rachel (Riley) Krichau, Rebekah (Zach) Garnett, Hunter White, and Parker (Jacob) Faber; great grandchildren, Claire, Landon, Jude, Emme, Hallie, Harper, Bowen, Wynnie, Briar, Blake, Boone,
Billie, Lanie, Grady, Saylie, Vander, Zion, Rivers, Nash, Lennon,
Hadley, June, Georgia, Mabel, Madden, and Greyson; twin sister,
Wanda Whitehead; sister, Norma Cheers; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Arden (Doris) White, Ardella (Kent) Waller, Elvin (Dot) White, Veda Hamilton, and Gordon (Bev) White; and brother-in-law, Carl Cheers.
Memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Life Change Church 4530 E 46th Street in Des Moines, Iowa. Wayne will be laid to rest at a private family graveside at Highland Memory
Gardens, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to Life Change Church “Youth Program” in loving memory of Wayne White.
