William "Bill" John Smith

William “Bill” Smith passed away on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 76 and was greeted in Heaven by our Lord Jesus Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene Smith; sister, Judith Whitlatch; niece, Hope Lynch; and nephew, James Raygor.

Bill is survived by his brother, Danny Smith; his sister, Theresa Mullins and their families; as well as his niece, Pam Konchalski.

He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him, and especially by his very close friend, John Rose, who took him to church many times and ran errands for him. He had many friends at Arbor Heights living facility, where he resided and was known by all as “Will." Bill deeply loved his cousins in Iowa and Minnesota.

Bill was born on July 6, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, to William and Irene Smith. As a child, he was stricken with polio at the age of three and suffered polio syndrome throughout his life. He attained his GED later in his life. He enjoyed his favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. Bill genuinely loved the Lord and would read the Bible almost on a daily basis. Will very much enjoyed singing at church and anywhere he could. He had an exceptionally large collection of gospel tapes and CDs that he would listen to.
