Amy Louise Lettow, 69, passed away on January 26, 2026 at her home. She was born on January 19, 1957 in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Arnold and Virginia (Swartz) Lettow.
Amy served in the Army where she earned her training in Radiology Technology. A career that spanned more than 50 years, with her work taking place in Ames and Colorado Springs. She was an animal lover, especially her cats – Sadie, Dexter and Bruce– which survive her. Amy enjoyed gardening and spending time with her close friends.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Gabe) Valtierra; brothers, Kurt Lettow, Gary Lettow and Leslie Lettow; 7 grandchildren and her beloved cats, Sadie, Dexter, Bruce.
She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved cats, Gypsy and Sassy.
Family will greet friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Kelly, she was a good friend to John and I. We are so thankful she is no longer in pain. She was one tough cookie. She loved you and her grandkids so much. Her dream was to give you and your kids a wonderful home, she achieved that and so much more. There are memorial plaques in a garden at St. Francis Hospital for employees that have passed away. John is arranging to have Amy's name in that garden. We are unable to attend her memorial. Please know we are thinking of you and family with love, grieving as well for our loss of a good friend.
