Andy Rassavong, 62, passed away at home on October 31, 2025. He was born on August 12, 1963 to Khamtanh and May Rassavong.

In 2017, Andy was diagnosed with brain cancer, a challenge he faced with strength and courage. His battle was longer than expected, a true testament to his determination and spirit.
Before retiring, Andy worked for Firestone for 29 years, where he was a valued and dedicated employee. He was also an active and beloved member of the Laos community.

Andy found joy in the simple things he loved most — fishing at Red Rock and Saylorville Lakes, singing karaoke, bowling, and hunting for mushrooms. His laughter, warmth, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Andy’s memory include his loving wife of 40 years, Vilay Khamma; children, Rebecca (Alan Lockman) Rassavong and DJ (Mai Yang) Rassavong; grandchildren, Talia, Kylin, Leo, Theo and Felix; siblings, Khek (Thongxay), Viengkham (May), Phoxay (Loy), Nith, Bounleuth, Katy, Panethong (Doug), and Khamla (Daphine).

Andy was preceded in death by his parents.

Family will greet guests on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Andy will be laid to rest on Monday, November 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., at Glendale Cemetery, 4909 University Ave., Des Moines.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Andy, which will be used to purchase a bench in his honor at Lake Red Rock in Pella, IA.
