Anne Marie Beals
January 19, 1953 — August 04, 2025
Anne Marie (Bellville) Beals, age 72, waged a courageous battle with cancer and entered heaven on Monday, August 4, 2025. She was surrounded by family and friends in her home when she passed peacefully with the windows open and the fragrance and sounds of an Iowa summer, as well as the Holy Spirit, filling the room.
Anne was born January 19, 1953, in Des Moines to Daryl Dean Bellville and Mary Ann (Sanger) Bellville. She attended Saydel High School where she excelled in sports and academics, even working as a model for a short stint. Anne lived in Central Iowa her entire life and married Billy Joe Beals on October 19, 1973. Anne was the first in her family to complete college and pursue a career in nursing. She served as a nurse for 42 years in varying capacities, all of which occurred in Des Moines. Intelligence, efficiency and compassion were attributes she routinely demonstrated while caring for others.
Anne accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior later in life. She grew boldly in her faith through relationships with family, dear friends and at Capitol City Church in Des Moines. While cancer was not a path she chose, she recognized it as an opportunity to witness to others. It was her desire, that, through her testimony, others would know that it is never too late to choose Jesus. She also embodied Charles Swindoll's Attitude quote... life is 10-percent what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
Anne had a love for dogs, particularly Labrador Retrievers. She spent countless hours walking them at Cottonwood and in all types of weather. Anne loved to travel, especially with her husband and close friends. She and Billy frequently road tripped throughout the United States once they both retired. She loved to travel.
More than anything, she loved her family. Anne was incredibly proud of her sons, their wives and the families and careers they established. She especially loved her four grandchildren who live in California and Iowa. She was a devoted fan of each of her grandchildren who excelled in football, lacrosse, volleyball, track, basketball and farming.
Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Billy and brother, Roger Bellville.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew (Melissa) and Jacob (Rachelle); grandchildren, Matthias, Matijs, Dane and Reis Beals; her sister, Sharon (Jill) Bellville and a core group of dear friends.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at Capitol City Church at a later date.
Any donations may be directed to Capital City Church at 5990 NE 14th Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50313.
