Betty was truly one of those special people who quietly made life better for everyone around her. We first met her at church, where her kindness was immediately felt. Later, we discovered she was neighbors with our dear friends, the Hokansons. There was a beautiful, unspoken care between them—Betty watched out for them, and they watched out for her.
Betty had a way of making people feel seen and loved. Whether it was greeting you at church, welcoming you into the library with patience and kindness, or sharing her gentle, joyful laugh, she made everyone feel at home. With her twinkling eye and warm spirit, she brought light wherever she went. Her kindness wasn’t loud or showy, but it was constant and sincere, and we are all better for having known her.

I have fond memories of the time Betty and Foye joined the Mitchellville United Methodist Church. They were truly a blessing to the congregation and to me. I always enjoyed the time I spent in their home.
