Charles Wilbur Wilson
of Des Moines, Iowa

Charles Wilson, age 22, passed away Saturday, October 11, 2025. He was born as the first bouncing, baby boy to Melissa (Duerkes) and Jason on January 10, 2003, in Des Moines, Iowa.

Charles had a way, a manner, a personality and presence that would light up every single room he entered. Charlie inevitably had a joke, something funny and/or mildly inappropriate to say; which invariably would cause both friends and strangers alike, to break into laughter. Charles had graduated from high school in 2021. Most recently, he had started preparing and studying for the first of his ASE certifications.

Our Sir Chuckles had many varied interests, spanning far and wide, which he pursued often. Encompassing almost everything from American history and human rights to video games and NHRA drag racing. From Legos and Star Wars lore to camping and watching the sunrise break over his favorite outdoor chill spots. He loved the outdoors and was able to get many of his friends to come outside with him, to share in some of the experiences the outdoors has to offer. Charlie had a big heart and sincerely cared about everyone he met.

Additionally, Charles was an organ donor, and despite his untimely passing, he will be able to live on through four different organ recipients. The Wilson family’s hopes and thoughts are with these 4 families. Our desire is his intense spark, fire and deep loving ways will live on; giving strength, drive, love and humor to their loved ones as well, as he did for us.

Charles is survived by his grandmothers, Diane Wilson and Kristy Duerkes, his father Jason and by his younger twin brothers, Jack and Quinn.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Melissa; his grandfathers, Charles Duerkes and Wilbur Wilson.

The family will be holding a private celebration of life to be announced at a later, to be determined, date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa Donor Network or the A.R.L. in memory of Charles.
