Charlotte Gruening

Charlotte Gruening, age 80, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2025. She was born the daughter of Charlotte Ford and Richard Halterman on December 28, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa

She found her greatest joy in spending time with her family especially her kids, grandkids and extended family who meant everything to her, and she loved her trips to Spirit Lake.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Gruening; children, Jeannie (Paul) Barnes, Debra (Doug) McGhee, Scott (Darla) Gruening, Teresa (Robert) Corbin; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Richard Halterman, Frank Halterman; and sister, Anita Halterman.

Visitation will be held from 10:00- 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2025, with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. at Hamiltons Funeral Home 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines, Iowa 50309.
