Dennis David Crall

Dennis D Crall, 71, of Altoona passed away on October 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters. Born in Ottumwa, IA, on May 13, 1954, to Theodore P and Virginia Crall.
Dennis retired along with his wife Sherry in 2017. He graduated from Albia High School in 1972. Among his many accomplishments, he owned a Sinclair service station before moving to Des Moines to attend AIB. He graduated with honors obtaining a double major of accounting and computer programming. He became a CPA and computer programmer. After many years, Dennis went on to a large insurance and investment company as a IT and an operator before he retired.
Dennis is the proud father of two daughters, Autumn and Holly. He married his second wife and longtime friend Sherry in 2008, gaining another daughter (Tami) and a son (Brian). Family made him very happy and he deeply loved them all.
Dennis greatly enjoyed playing cribbage. He would play with family, friends, or anyone else willing to participate. He spent his daily quiet time completing many games of Sudoku. Dennis’s hobbies included collecting model trains and Legos, which he gifted to his grandchildren. He also loved sharing jokes with his family.
Dennis is survived by his wife Sherry, his two daughters Autumn (Dan) and Holly, stepchildren Tami and Brian (Amanda), and cat Teenie that he dearly loved. His grandchildren, Wes (Jordan), Ashley (Alex), AJ, Miguel, and Savanna, and great grandchildren Whitney, Kiya, and Wyatt. They were the light of his life. Dennis is also survived by his siblings Carole (Perry), Vince (Rita), and Kathleen. He will be missed by each and every one of them. He is preceded in death by his father Theodore and mother Virginia.
A visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. on November 4, 2025, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th St SW, Altoona, IA, with funeral service to follow. Burial will take place at Altoona Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
