Eric Michael Linford

Eric Linford, 58, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from cancer. He was born on March 22, 1968, to Ron and Sandy Linford in Des Moines, Iowa.

Eric graduated from North High School. After graduating from high school, he was hired on at Budget Storage where he became part owner. Eric dedicated many years to Budget Storage until it was sold and he retired. Eric enjoyed traveling with friends and family, making new memories, and visiting his siblings quite often.

He had a routine each week where he would be at home for Sunday dinners, Monday’s, would be dinner with Sarah, Tuesday’s he would have dinner at Mark and Marcella’s house. Thursday and Friday’s he would have dinner and watch a move at his sister’s. He looked after our mom and would always bring her left overs.

Eric was the fun uncle (aka Studmuffin) to the nieces and nephews. He had a way of creating a special bond with each of them. They could count on him for advice, making each other laugh or just being there to listen. His presence will truly be missed but will remain in their hearts forever.

Eric’s greatest gift was making people feel like family. His kindness, generosity, humor and unwavering loyalty left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind countless stories, inside jokes, and cherished memories that will continue to be shared for generations. His love for his family was unconditional, and he never missed an opportunity to remind them just how much they meant to him.

Eric was an incredible son, brother, uncle, and friend. His laughter, his love and the memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Eric is survived by his mother, Sandy; brother, Robert Linford; sister Rebecca Burton; brother, Mark Linford and half-sister, Tracy Allgood; nephews, Ceegan Linford, Matthew Linford, and Zachary Burton; nieces, Melanie (Kyle) Johnson, Cinzi Linford, and Andrea Burton; 5 great-nephews; 1 great-niece and his special friend Sarah Finken, along with a host of extended family and beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ron; brother-in-law, Mark Burton and his cat Junior.

Family will greet friends on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Eric will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
