Esteban González Gutiérrez, de 90 años, falleció pacíficamente en su hogar el martes 12 de agosto de 2025. Hijo de Alejandro González y Domitila Gutiérrez, nació el 11 de agosto de 1935 en Ixtlahuacán del Río, Jalisco, México. Esteban se mudó a Estados Unidos en 1995 y se estableció en Des Moines, Iowa, en 2006.

Esteban era un fiel miembro de la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de las Américas. Disfrutaba de las cosas sencillas de la vida: montar en bicicleta, recolectar latas, pasar tiempo en la obra de su hijo en la empresa constructora y, sobre todo, estar rodeado de su familia. A Esteban le encantaba la música, jugar a las cartas y era conocido por ser el alma de la fiesta. Algunos de sus recuerdos más preciados eran pasar tiempo pescando en el río y montando a caballo en México. Su familia lo extrañará profundamente y permanecerá en sus corazones para siempre.

Le sobreviven con cariño su esposa, María Del Refugio, con quien estuvo casado durante 65 años; sus hijos Francisco (Enedelia) González, Nazario González, Alejandro González, Antonio González, José María (Martha) González, Domitila González y Guadalupe González; sus numerosos nietos y bisnietos, así como numerosos familiares y amigos.

La misa de entierro cristiano se celebrará a las 11:00 a. m. del lunes 18 de agosto de 2025 en la Iglesia Católica de Nuestra Señora de las Américas, ubicada en 1271 E 9th St, Des Moines. La familia recibirá a sus amigos de 9:00 a. m. a 11:00 a. m. antes del servicio en la iglesia. Esteban será enterrado en el Cementerio Laurel Hill, Des Moines.

Esteban Gonzalez Gutierrez, age 90, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. He was born the son of Alejandro Gonzalez and Domitila Gutierrez on August 11, 1935, in Ixtlahuacan Del Rio, Jalisco, Mexico. Esteban moved to the United States in 1995 and later settled in Des Moines, Iowa, in 2006.

Esteban was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church. He enjoyed the simple things in life, riding his bicycle, collecting cans, spending time out at his son’s construction company job site, and above all being surrounded by his family. Esteban loved music, playing cards, and was known to be the life of the party. Some of Esteban’s most cherished memories were spending time fishing on the river and riding his horse in Mexico. He will be deeply missed by his family and remain in their hearts forever.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 65 years Maria Del Refugio, children Francisco (Enedelia) Gonzalez, Nazario Gonzalez, Alejandro Gonzalez, Antonio Gonzalez, Jose Maria (Martha) Gonzalez, Domitila Gonzalez, and Guadalupe Gonzalez, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 18, 2025 at Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church, 1271 E 9th St, Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Esteban will be laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Des Moines.
