Evelyn Ruth Hackett

Evelyn Ruth Hackett, 82, passed away February 10, 2026.

She was born June 7, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to her parents, Henry and Hazel Lehman. Evelyn married the love her life, Kenneth Hackett, on November 3, 1961 and enjoyed 64 joyful years of marriage together. She lived most of her life in Des Moines but enjoyed ten years in a lakeside home on Lake Ponderosa.

Evelyn loved many activities, including gardening, camping, and playing cards. She enjoyed shopping everywhere, but Kohl’s was her top choice. Out of all her interests, her greatest passion was her family.

Evelyn is survived by her husband of 64 years, Kenneth Hackett; sons, Michael (Monica) Hackett, Gary (Cathy) Hackett, Scott (Andrea) Hackett; daughter, Laurie Hackett-Brown; grandchildren, Katie (Andrew) Carson, John Fontanini, Alexis (Bryce) Hagner, Lindsay (Nick) McNeley, Tyler Hackett, Ava Hackett, and Emma Hackett; great-grandchildren, Hannah Brown, Lily White, and NinaLou McNeley; brothers, Ron (Sharon) Lehman, David (Bev Miles) Lehman; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hazel Lehman; sisters, Norma Jean Lehman, Pauline Lehman, Marguerite Lehman, and Violet Van Horn; brothers, Gene Lehman, Donald Lehman, Bob Lehman, and Kenny Lehman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Hospital in Evelyn’s memory.

Family will hold a celebration of life on her birthday, later this year.
