Frankie Lee Harris, 87, passed away on January 11, 2026 Carlisle Care Center in Carlisle, Iowa. He was born on May 27, 1938 in Pleasant Plains, IL to Lee and Dorothy (Poore) Harris.
Mom and dad met while working together in a theatre. He was an Army Veteran and proudly served in Germany during the peace time as a tank specialist from September 1957 until August 1961. After the death of his son, Frankie Lee, Frank and Barbara moved back to Iowa.
He was an autobody mechanic and car insurance adjuster. He loved living on a farm and dabbled in farming and raised some farm animals for a while.
Frank was a man who loved the simple, steady blessings of life. He cherished farm living, small towns, and the comfort of bib overalls, finding joy in honest work and familiar places. Above all else, he loved his family deeply, and they were the center of his world.
Frank served his community as a school bus driver for Interstate 35 schools, a role he took seriously and with pride, safely transporting generations of students with care and dependability.
Those who knew Frank will remember his quiet strength, steady presence, and genuine heart. His life was a testament to faithfulness, humility, and love for home and family.
In quieter moments, he loved watching westerns and enjoying the life he built through hard work, faith, and love. His legacy lives on through the many generations he leaves behind and the steady example he set for all who knew him.
Frank was the proud father of five children and is survived by, Lisa (Ray) Stroud, Lorilee Harris, Leann (Rick) Wisecup Kathy Harris and Don Harris; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; sister-in-law, Linda Yates; sister, Karen Formaro and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara Ann Harris; son, Frankie Harris; brothers, George Harris and James Harris and brother-in-law, Dennis Yates.
Frank will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Frank enjoyed wearing bib overalls and watching the Hawkeyes. With that said, the family would like to invite you if you so choose to wear either bib overalls or Hawkeye gear in honor of Frank to his service.

Dad, you were the peace-maker in our chaotic family. Always making sure we did the right thing by each other. You had my back every day, never ever let me down, when others did, you didn’t make excuses for them, just showed me how to be the bigger person. I will treasure our little chats, your sweet laugh, and your kindness to everyone you ever met I am who I am BECAUSE of YOU. And I thank you for that. Always my Hero, forever your little girl. I love you so much. Miss you terribly…until we meet again. Knowing mom met you with her loving arms, warms my heart & helps me get through these difficult times without you here. Rest in peace, Dad. ❤️

I love you Dad.
I miss you every day, your farm hand girl still carrying your lessons in my heart, and probably a little of your stubborn streak too. You taught me how to work hard, laugh harder, and appreciate the little things…like a good sunrise (slopping the hogs), a well-worn tractor, or a perfectly baked pie. Your favorite dessert!
I like to imagine you and Mom up in heaven, dancing to Elvis.
R.I.P. POPS! Until we see each again. ♥️

Frank and Elvis were good neighbors, even if Elvis sometimes escaped out the back door. We miss seeing them every day. David enjoyed his chats with Frank and eating fish on Friday's during lent.
