George C. Coon, 92, passed away on January 8, 2026 at Sunny view Care Center in Ankeny. He was born on December 10, 1933 to George and Mary (Cratty) Coon in Des Moines.

George proudly served in the United States Navy – USS Peterson. He was a construction worker. George met his wife, Nannette, in the early 1960’s at Chuck’s Pizza, they soon married after that. He loved to fish, especially with his sons-in-law. George enjoyed woodcarving and was always waiting and willing for a family member to request a new deck or help with any home improvement projects.

George his survived by his daughters, Melanie Coon, Melisse (Brian) Leopold and Melinda (Steve) Fontanini; 8 grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannette and daughter, Maria Schuessler.

Private services will take place.
