Gladys Buckingham

Gladys Buckingham, age 97, passed away on Thursday, December 4, 2025. She was born the daughter of Edith and George Imhoff on March 12, 1928, in Van Wert, Iowa

Gladys attended Leon Public High School alongside her future husband, John, and graduated in 1945. The two married on September 15, 1947, and later moved to the Des Moines area, where they lovingly raised their children. Though Gladys was a private person she deeply cherished her family and friends, often saying she had “perfect children.” In their early years together, she enjoyed traveling with John to Branson and other destinations to support him during his musical performances.

She is survived by her son, Roger Buckingham (Jaonne); daughters, Lois Duncan, Jewel (Pat) Nicholson; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great- grandchildren.

Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, John Buckingham; 3 children, twins Gene D and Gerald C Buckingham, and daughter Clover Frisk; brothers, Charles, Harry, and Roscoe Imhoff.

Visitation will be held at 9:00- 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 15, 2025, with funeral service following at 10:30 a.m., at All Saints Catholic Church. 650 NE 52nd Ave, Des Moines, IA, 50313. Burial will take place following the luncheon at Leon Cemetery.
