Gregory Austin Ryan

Gregory Austin Ryan, 82, passed away in West Des Moines on April 23, 2024. Greg was born on December 31, 1941, to Gregory and Kathleen (Mullin) Ryan in Des Moines, Iowa.

Greg recently celebrated his 45th year of sobriety, he enjoyed fellowship and playing cards at the White House in Des Moines. Greg owned and operated Ryan's Auto Body in Des Moines. Greg also enjoyed restoring and showing his classic cars. Greg was an avid car racing fan, especially watching his son Ed race stock cars. He also loved watching his grandsons at various sporting events.

When Greg retired he traveled with 2 buddies by motorcycle to Alaska and completed his bucket list by visiting Ireland and Scotland with his wife and sister Kay.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Dixie; son, Edward (Tootie) Ryan; daughter, Lisa Green; grandchildren, Katie Jawad, Brianna, Ryan, Alex Green, and Nate Green; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters Kay Kopatich and Gina (Al) MacRae and brother Jerry (Wenda) Ryan.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward James Ryan.

A celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines from 12:00 - 2 p.m. Following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines.
