Helen Louise Penman

Helen Louise Penman, 94, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, at Prairie Vista Village in Altoona, surrounded by her loving family. She was cremated and a graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2025 beginning at 1:00 p.m., at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells, Iowa.

Helen was born July 29, 1931 in Newton, Iowa to Clifford and Kathryn Philby. She married Harry Penman on March 26, 1950. Helen and Harry raised their five sons in Carlisle, where they lived for over 50 years. Helen enjoyed garage sales, bluegrass festivals, and visiting Pella. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends

Helen is survived by her loving sons, Steve Penman and Kelly Sr. (Kathy) Penman; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister Donita Schreiner of Colorado; and a host of extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry Penman, sons, John, Kevin, and Bob Penman; her parents; and brothers Bob Philby and Leon Philby.
