Jack Robert Smith, born on March 7, 2008 passed away on April 11, 2026, taken far too soon at the young age of 18.

Jack was set to graduate this year. Jack enjoyed the outdoors, camping and fishing. He enjoyed listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.

Left to cherish his memory is his dad, Tony; siblings, Quentin (Alexa), Liz, Ivy (Brad), Gracie and Nick (Sofia); nieces, Emersyn, Juliana and Stella (Due in July); grandparents, Bill and LaRetta Jahnke; many aunts, uncles and tons of cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Missy; grandparents, Chuck and Rose Smith; aunt, Patty; uncle, Ray and great-grandparents, Ernest and Betty Jahnke.

Family will greet guests on Monday, April 20, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Jack will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa
