James Studer, 69, passed away February 24, 2026, in his home in Runnells, Iowa, peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

He was born December 2, 1956 to his parents Clete and Colleen Studer.

James worked for Dow Jones & Company as a computer technician in West Des Moines, Iowa until his retirement. He continued to explore various business ventures after retirement, including numerous rental properties and remodeling homes.

He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his late wife, Terri with whom he traveled the world. His hobbies included motorcycle riding, restoring his 1970 Road Runner, and tending to his acreage and household in Ankeny, Iowa.
In October of 2025, James relocated to a home in Runnells, IA to reside with his son, Andrew Studer, his daughter, Amy Lehman, and their families in order to best care for him in his final months.
All were blessed in the unity God provided, as well as in the new family that was found in the care team that was by the family’s side.

James is survived by his children, Andrew (Jennifer) Studer, and Amy (Travis) Lehman; grandchildren, Caleb Studer, Tyler Studer, Makayla Lehman, Christopher Laffey, Carson Laffey, Michael Lehman, and Jacob Lehman; siblings, Chris Leichsenring, Dean Studer, Shelly Heinze, Dennis Studer, Todd Studer, and Kim ST. John; numerous nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and many special friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Teresa; parents, Clete and Colleen (Reising) Studer; and his granddaughter, Evelyn Lehman.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 4, 2026 from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. at All Saints Catholic Church. 650 NE 52nd Ave, Des Moines, Iowa 50313. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Yeslin Gonzalez, Yuniel Gonzalez and Gabriel De Arreage for their special love and compassion these past few months in helping care for our beloved father and grandfather – You are not just caregivers, but family.
