James Leo Randles, 79, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at his home in Van Meter. He was born to Leo and Francis Randles on September 5, 1945.
Jim was self-employed, working through Jim Randles Construction and also with Firestone. He was a proud graduate of Saydel High School and lived in several places throughout his life, including Memphis, Tennessee; Saylorville, Iowa; Elkhart, Iowa; and Van Meter, Iowa.
Jim had a wide range of hobbies that brought him joy—he loved hunting, fishing, woodworking, bird watching, and even mowing the lawn. He was a longtime member of Saylorville Baptist Church, where he found community and faith.
Above all, Jim cherished time with his grandchildren. Watching them play sports and simply spending time with them was one of his greatest joys.

My heart is broken.
There were nine of siblings, and now my last brother, Jim, has received his angel wings. I can’t begin to imagine life without him.
Every time he called me, he’d say, “This is your favorite brother” then he would laugh and add Well I am your only brother now! Losing my last brother is the end of a era, and the emptiness he leaves behind is something words can’t fully describe. I will miss his phone calls so much.
Jim was always so naughty to me when we were young. We were only a year apart. A few years ago he called me and said Joni I want to tell you how sorry I am that I was so bad to you when we were kids. Fly high Bro!

Aunt Linda and family, We are praying for all of you! So sorry to hear of Uncle Jim's quick passing. I have fond memories of him when I was in college, almost 50 years ago. He would call me long distance every few weeks just to check on me. I was going to college in Michigan so it was so encouraging to get his calls!
Praying the Lord comforts you!
