Jeffery "Jeff" Michael Crouse
July 09, 1970 — November 27, 2025
Jeffery “Jeff” Michael Crouse passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on November 27, 2025. Jeff was born in Waterloo, Iowa on July 9, 1970 to Michael and Carol Crouse. The family moved to Des Moines and he grew up on the east side along with his brother Todd. Jeff graduated from East High School in addition to being involved in cross country and wrestling during his time there. He went on to attend Wartburg College and worked a number of jobs throughout his career. The most important, being Principal Financial in which during his time there, he met his wife and best friend Sue. In 2002, they would marry and went on to help raise and love her children as his own; Zane, Hannah, and Chloe.
Jeff’s legacy is one of laughter with just enough chaos to make those around him smile. His family cherishes him through many fond memories. Memories include breaking a window while the house keys were in his coat pocket, finding a way to slip once a holiday, never backing down when it comes to a costume party, and countless other memories as well.
Family is everything when it comes to Jeff. He took great interest in sports and activities his children were involved in and never missed attending school activities. The family recalls many game nights and family vacations with Jeff that always involved him making everyone smile. Jeff cherished the introduction of dogs into the family starting with the family dogs Tucker and Sheldon, eventually leading to the dogs of his children, Bumper, Copper, and Lincoln. The dogs always looked forward to seeing grandpa. Jeff also cherished the arrival of his grandson Spencer, visiting him in the NICU before he came home then eventually watching him for the night later on.
Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents, Raymond (Marlys) Reams and Archie (Mabel) Crouse, and his father, Michael. He is survived by his wife Sue, his mother Carol, his brother Todd (Steffany), his niece CC, his son Zane, his daughters Chloe (AJ), Hannah (Christopher), and Kelsey, his grandson Spencer, his grand pups Bumper, Copper, and Lincoln, and his grand kittens Nimbus and Gigi.
In respect of Jeff’s wishes, he will be cremated. The family will plan a celebration of life at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be directed to The Vyne Ministries, 118 Center Ave., N., Mitchellville, Iowa 50169, in loving memory of Jeff.

I lost a dear friend last month, and it’s been hard to put into words what that means. I met Jeff in college in the fall of 1988 at CMSU in Warrensburg, Missouri, and we seemed to instantly become friends—and then roommates for a couple of years. Those were formative times in our lives, when so many of our foundations were being built, and Jeff was a meaningful part of mine. There were countless late nights, the shared stresses of our personal lives and classes, and a lot of laughing—just hanging out with friends.
Looking back now, I realize how deeply those years were etched in both of us. Even though our lives eventually moved in different directions, we stayed in close contact over the years. I’m grateful for the time we shared, and Jeff truly left a mark on my life—and on the lives of many others.
I take comfort knowing Jeff is in a much better place now- and this goodbye is not the end, not even close. I will miss you, my friend.
Carol, Todd, and Sue—
My deepest condolences. Love to you and all your family.

Todd, you and your family have my deepest sympathy for the loss of your brother. Not a fun club the "November Club". It does get easier to handle as time passes, but his spirit will never leave you. He sounded like a great guy.

My thoughts and prayers are with Jeff's family. I worked with Jeff at The Principal Financial Group; what a great guy. He always had a smile on his face; he was so much fun to work with. I will never forgot our department Christmas parties; one year Jeff came as Elvis; it was fantastic. My prayer is for God to comfort all of Jeff's friends and family as they begin their grief journey. Hold tight to all the good memories and remember Jeff's smile. Love to all.

I am so very sorry for your loss! My thoughts are with all of you.
Sue this will be a different life style for you. When we lose our other halves life becomes a challenge. We no longer have OUR person to ask their opinion of. At times it seems impossible to move forward. The kids will be so helpful for you when you are not sure what to do. Please take care and know my heart hurts for you and the rest of the family! RIP Jeff!

Jeff was fantastic to work with.
He was my team lead at Mercer. 2007-2009
There was so many inside jokes, that we both would have ended up in HR.
I shall listen to Rob Thomas / match box 20 tonight in rememberance.
I am so sorry for your loss.
