Kim Kathleen Bailey, 69, of Altoona, Iowa, passed away October 15, 2025, at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Kim was born on April 4, 1956, in Duluth, Minnesota, the sixth in a family of 10 siblings, to her parents, Rose Mary and Ernest W. “Buzz” Bailey. She attended school at Holy Rosary Elementary, Ordean Middle School and Duluth East High School, graduating in 1974, where she was a member of the swim team. She worked for many years in real estate title and abstract services in Duluth, Houston, Texas, and Bettendorf and Des Moines, Iowa. She lived in Bettendorf from 1981 to 2005 with her life partner, Steve Carre, until they moved to Altoona 20 years ago. Kim and Steve enjoyed a love of music, gardening, traveling, garage sales and trips to the Iowa State Fair. She was a 35-year participant in the BIX 7 race in Davenport, Iowa. Kim’s true passion was spending time with Steve and her family, including many sister trips with Weezie, Patty, Robin, Betsy, Barb and Terry, and she never missed family gatherings in summer and the holidays. She was a faithful fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes, and an ardent fan of Iowa’s premiere women’s basketball star, Caitlin Clark. Kim had a bright personality, a sharp wit and a wonderful sense of humor. It was always a delight and honor to be in her company, and she will be profoundly missed by the love of her life, Steve, and all her family and friends.
