Larry Gene Boyer, 84, passed away on August 6, 2025, from this life and is now present with the Lord Jesus Christ. Larry was born in Keokuk, Iowa on September 9, 1940, to Willard Merrell and Amelia Elizabeth Boyer.
Larry grew up in Memphis, Missouri and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (presently Truman State University), with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and a Master of Arts Degree in Guidance and Counseling. While at Northeast Missouri State, Larry participated in Alpha Phi Sigma, Kappa Delta Pi (president 1967), Blue Key and Phi Delta Kappa.
Larry and Jacqueline met at college and were married in 1963 at Webster Hills Methodist Church in Webster Groves, Missouri. They moved to Iowa in 1965, where they raised two daughters.
Larry is survived by Jacqueline his wife of 62 years, two daughters Michele (Bill) Blood and Kimberly (Brian) Laube, one brother, Kenneth, four grandchildren and their spouses, three great grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.
Larry’s 30 plus year career in education was served at NESCO Schools, Jefferson Junior College, and Norwalk Schools. His career was supplemented by serving as a real estate agent for Iowa Realty. While serving with Iowa Realty, he received consecutive awards as a million-dollar producer.
In 2007, Larry and Jacqueline moved to Altoona, Iowa to watch firsthand the growth of their grandchildren as they proceeded through their childhood, participating in school, sports, and church activities.
Larry’s faith in Jesus Christ was important to him, and he and Jacqueline were happy that their daughters and their families have that blessed assurance that only Jesus can provide. Larry’s prayer would be for all to have this assurance as well.
The body has been cremated in accordance with Larry’s request. A private graveside service will take place.
