Lindy Lea Leonard, 56, died on April 11, 2025.
Lindy was born in Des Moines in 1969 to Suzanne Woodyard and David Street. She was raised in Altoona with her three siblings. She enjoyed swimming, playing softball, having fun with her friends, and spending time on her grandpa’s farm with her cousins. She graduated from Southeast Polk High School (’86). Later in life she went on to graduate from Simpson College (’11) with a Bachelor ‘s Degree in Accounting.
Lindy was a loving wife to her husband Randy. They were married for 35 years. They enjoyed rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and traveling.
Lindy was a devoted mother to Zachary, Jacob, and Ella Leonard. They could always feel her love and support in everything they did, whether it was coaching their sports teams, cheering them on at various school events, taking them shopping, graduations or attending military ceremonies. Her children could always count on her to be there to listen to them, take their side and validate their feelings. Her spirit lives on in all the lives she touched.
Lindy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Randy; children, Zachary (Stephanie) Leonard, Jacob (Kristen) Leonard and Ella Leonard; grandchildren, Coleton Leonard, Robbie Leonard, Alexzander Anthony, Gabriel Anthony, Mila Leonard and Wesley Leonard; mother, Suzanne Woodyard; Janell Street; siblings, Lori (Roger) Short, Lance (Tammy) Street and Stephanie Woodyard along with extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father’s David Street and Stephen Woodyard.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa.
