Lois Emery

Lois C. Emery, age 81, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2025 in her home in Des Moines, Iowa surrounded by her family and friends. Lois was born January 18, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa to Doris L. Wilson and William R. (Bill) Shepherd.

She worked at Tommy’s Good Foods with her sisters Louise and Marty. Next, she had moved on to Crown Redi-Mix where she worked as a cement truck driver. Lastly, she moved on to Las Compadres where she managed it for years.

She enjoyed shooting pool, playing cribbage, bingo, shopping and collecting angels. She resided at The Rose in Assisted Living and made many friends with other residents as well as staff. Her best friend Ruth Robinson had lots of fun together shopping and just hanging out!

She is survived by her children, Rhonda Harland (Roger), Daniel Kern Jr., and Terie Emery (Edwin Daye). Her 14 grandchildren, Nate Moore, Nick Moore, Ashley Moore, Dannisha Kern, Patron Daye, Javon Daye, A’Leeya Daye, Jamasa Daye, Ashlynn Daye, Jax Daye, Chain Daye, Jermiere Daye, Caprisha Daye, and TyCarra Daye. Her 22 great-grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Nick Jr., Brekken, Lailah, Roman, Deikken, Gary III, Titus, Kingzlei, La’heesna, Dakota, Autumn, Amarion, Dreya, La’Riyah, Amyah, Ka’heeya, Slim Cemir, Joscelynn, Jaziaha, and JayVien.

She was preceded in death by her parents Doris and Bill Shepherd, her brothers Charles and Billy Shepherd, her sisters Louise Plum and Marty Shepherd, and her niece Margo Plum.

There will be no viewing or services. After, cremation she will be placed in a columbarium at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with her sister Louise Plum. These were her final wishes.
