of Altoona, Iowa
Marcine, 89, passed away at Valley View Village in Des Moines on October 20, 2025. She was the daughter of Hugh and Garnet (Keens) McColloch on May 24, 1936.
Marcine attended high school in Mt. Ayr, Kellerton and graduated from Mormon Trail High School in Humeston. On September 25, 1954, she married Howard McBroom, and together they had three sons: Howard Duane, Rick Nathan, and Todd Alan. They made their home on a farm in Derby, Iowa, while also running the grocery store that Marcine owned.
She later married Clarence Fisher on January 23, 1984, and together they teamed and drove for National Carriers for ten years. Clarence preceded her in death in 1991.
During her career, she drove for National Carriers for 18 years, covering more than three million miles and earning a safe driving award. She hauled many loads of meat to the East Coast, especially to New York City. After 18 years on the road, she sold her truck and became a driving instructor for DMACC and TMC, where she taught for another 18 years. Her first truck proudly displayed her favorite song lyrics, “Against the Wind.”
Marcine loved watching the Kansas City Chiefs play, especially watching Patrick Mahomes. She loved watching NASCAR racing, her favorite driver was Chase Elliott. Marcine almost always attended the Indianapolis 500 race each year. She also enjoyed fishing and watching one of her granddaughters play softball.
Those left to cherish Marcine’s memory include her loving children, Duane, Rick (Danette) and Todd (Melanie); grandchildren, Jake (Monica) Cole, Mackenzie McBroom,, Stacy (Curt) Smyser, Morgan (Cory) Piper, Taylor (Seth) Grgurich, Megan (Alex) Egen, AJ (Abbie) McBroom and Allie (Brian) Zahnle; great grandchildren, Sophia, Eleanor, Kinsley, Lexi, Brynli, Cole, Harlee, Brooks and Merrick and brother, LeRoy McColloch.
Marcine was preceded in death by her parents, Garnet and Hugh McColloch, husbands, Howard McBroom and Clarence Fisher and sister, Linda Lankford.
Family will greet guests on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, Iowa. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Marcine will be laid to rest at Lowman Cemetery in Runnells, Iowa.
