Martha Geraldine (Lizotte) Woolsey

Martha Geraldine (Lizotte) Woolsey, age 71, passed away on June 27, 2025. She was born on July 31, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Warren and Martha Lizotte.

Martha was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E.). She found joy in gardening, sewing, and music, often sharing her passions with those around her. Above all, she cherished her family, especially her grandkids, whose love filled her heart. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children Eric Woolsey, Jr., Joseph (Katie) Woolsey, William (Rheba) Woolsey, and Elizabeth Powers, grandchildren Amber, Kaleb, Jonny, Sophia, Katherine, Ellen, Shannon, Olivia, and Tiberius, brothers Paul Lizotte, David (Chris) Blacksmith, and Daniel Blacksmith, a host of nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Maggie.

Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband Eric Woolsey, Sr., parents, brothers Joseph Lizotte and Warren Lizotte, and her sister Marsha White.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025, with funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
