Mary Ann Van Zandt, 89, passed away on September 26, 2025 at Granger Nursing and Rehabilitation in Granger, Iowa. She was born on July 16, 1936 in Des Moines to Richard and Opal (Briggs) Baker.

Mary Ann lived in Georgia for the past 35 plus years, recently returning to her home town of Des Moines. While living in Des Moines she worked for Super Valu Warehouse in West Des Moines for many years, working as a meat wrapper and in the bakery.

Mary Ann enjoyed life, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Don) Elliott; daughter-in-law, Gretchen Van Zandt; grandchildren, Jack Ruby, Angela (Ryan) Rhoades, Jared (Kathryn) Battani, Ramsey Van Zandt and Dylan Van Zandt; numerous great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren; sister, Linda Troutman and a host of extended family and friends.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mark Van Zandt; niece, Julie Baker; brothers, Richard Baker, Jr., and Jimmy Baker and brother-in-law, Marvin Troutman.

A graveside service will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 12:30 p.m., at Laurel Hill Cemetery, 3601 E. Court Ave., Des Moines, Iowa
