Michele Therese Galloway
September 19, 1956 — August 18, 2025
Michele Therese (Faber) Galloway gained her eternal guardian angel wings as she passed away peacefully on Monday, August 18, 2025, surrounded by her two loving children.
Michele was born on September 19, 1956, to Floyd and Carla Faber. She attended St. Joseph Academy and later Dowling High School, graduating with the Class of 1974. Serving children underscored much of Michele’s life. For more than 30 years she made a lasting impact on countless lives through her work at the Polk County Juvenile Detention Shelter (Meyer Hall). She also served as a religious education program teacher at St. Joseph's Catholic Church for several years.
Michele, known as Shelly to close friends, was creative and energetic, enjoying music, dancing, traveling (especially gambling trips with her husband, John), and laughter with loved ones. Her loyalty fostered lifelong friendships, and she leaves a legacy of love and support.
Her deepest sense of fulfillment came from being a grandmother, cherishing her special bonds with Olivia, Mya, Kason, and Peyton. Spoiling her grandbabies, especially during Christmas, was something she delivered upon often. Her cheerful smile and loving encouragement will forever be in their hearts.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, John Galloway; her son, Jon (Jodi) Doty; daughter, Jenna (Brady) Clary; stepdaughter, Hailey Galloway; her grandbabies Olivia, Mya, Kason, and Peyton; along with siblings Liz, Tari, Tom, Mindy, Kerry, and Pete; extended family, and countless lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Carla Faber.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Michele touched are invited to St. Boniface Catholic Church (Waukee, Iowa) on Friday, August 29th, 2025, for Visitation at 9:00 AM and Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM. A private urn placement ceremony will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to Iowa Homeless Youth Center, or your local youth shelter, a cause Michele deeply cared for.
Michele's welcoming smile and distinctive eyes were unforgettable. Her generosity, calmness, and kindness will forever be cherished by those who knew her.

I've just learned of Michele's passing, and I'm heartbroken. Michele was so warm, loving, and kind. She was one of those people who truly listened when you talked. She always made me feel like a part of the family, having that special knack of making you feel welcome and included. Holding the Fabers in my heart and sending so much love

I had the honor of working with Michele for around 15 years. I was there for for all the girl talk when she first met John. I was there for the girl talk when she took her first trip to California to meet up with him. We spent hours in the office girl talking about everything from relationships, kids, casino fun and work. Michele was my immediate supervisor for about 8 years and she always put my needs above anyone if I brought them too her. She was a great supervisor and friend in time of need when I myself had some sudden family loss. Last time I saw her was at Prairie Meadows where she asked me when are you leaving that damn place (work) LOL ... She had a great smile and she was a strong women and a great friend. I will always remember how she was so proud of her children, but so excited when she became a grandma. I am sadden to hear of her passing. I am wishing her family finds peace, comfort, and strength during this incredibly difficult time.
