Michelle Robb
of Des Moines, Iowa

Michelle “Mickey" Diane Robb, 65, passed away at Comfort House of Pella on April 28, 2026. She was born the daughter of Bill and Joann (Vessels) Rote. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines in 1978 and lived the majority of her life as a proud resident of Des Moines’ southside. Mickey enjoyed gardening, flowers, and plants, and basically all things outdoors.

She was also a frequent consumer of Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups. So much so that she begrudgingly admitted she probably should have invested in their stock long ago. Her loyal dog, Honey-bear, was her pride and joy and stuck by her to her very last breath.

Mickey was always working on household projects until she physically became unable to do so in her later years. Many who knew her well referred to her as “Busy Mickey”. She worked various jobs, from cleaning homes to painting and staining. She was proud of operating her own business, which, of course, was called Mickey’s Domestic Cleaning.

Those left to cherish Mickey’s memory include her loving daughters, Angela Grandstaff (Kelly Glass), and Andie (Nick) Grossman; all her grandkids, a sister, Connie Beckley, a brother, Mike Rote, numerous other family members, and, of course, Honey the dog.

Mickey was preceded in death by her husband, James Robb; her parents and grandparents; and her other brother, Billy Rote.

A private burial was held at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, IA, alongside her husband, Jim, who was a combat Veteran of the United States Army. Even in her later years, Mickey always referred to Jim as the “love of her life.”

A Celebration of Life will be held at Brightside Aleworks, 480 Center Place, Altoona, Iowa, on May 6th from 4:30 to 6:30 PM.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family in memory of Mickey, or donations in her name to the Pella Tulip Festival.
