Nahla, Nahla, Nahla. The brightest light in a room of darkness. The loudest voice in a zone of silence. The prettiest angel on this earth. The prettiest angel in heaven. Nahla ‘Belle’ Rochelle Morrison, born March 11, 2018, sadly transitioned from this Earth just 1 week before her 8th birthday on March 4th, 2026. Nahla was something special. She was born at only 1 pound, 3 ounces, with a hole in her heart. A true warrior. She came into this world fighting a battle most adults couldn’t fight through, and she left this earth the same way. A fighter.

Nahla was funny. She was so silly. She would make funny faces to make you laugh. Tickle you so hard it felt like cat scratches just to make you laugh. She loved laughing. If anyone laughed around her, she would laugh harder. She never even knew what people were laughing at; she just had to join in. She would draw on you. She would force people to dance or sing to songs with her. She would ask for help breaking her plastic forks and spoons. She would put on 5 layers of clothes that weren’t even hers most of the time, then get your attention and say, “look at me it’s so pretty”. She was so pretty.

She was so loved. Nahla was so loved she got to become apart of alot of people’s families. That village people talk about needing when you have kids, Nahla had 10. Nahla loved her mom. Nahla loved her sister. Nahla loved her grandma, her TT mommy, her cousins, her bro, her uncles, all her grandparents. Nahla had an infinite amount of love to give.

Nahla is a person who could have a 10 hour movie about her, and you wouldn’t even scratch the surface on how beautiful, how smart, how precious, how funny, how kind, how loving, how big of a blessing it was to get to know and love Nahla.

All the light, love, and happiness Nahla brought to her loved ones on this earth will now be shared with her loved ones in heaven. They are so lucky. We were so lucky. Nahla is so lucky. Mom, Sis, and Grandma love you, Nahla; you were everything to us. We are so thankful for the time we had, although it wasn’t enough. You’re in a beautiful place now. Have fun, we’ll see you later, Wooda.

Those left to cherish her memory include her beautiful, loving mother: Dana Morrison; her sister-mom, Ny’Asiah Gully; her grandparents, Pamela Miles, Webster Miles, Tracy Jewitt, Carl Hill, & Renee Mason; her loving TT mommy, Alicia Jones; Uncle Lamar Johnson; her cousin-siblings, Lamairra Johnson, Tamairra Johnson, Lamar Johnson, Amairra Johnson, Terry Wyant; and a host of other uncles, aunties, godmoms, and cousins.

Nahla will be greeted in heaven by her grandparents, Derek Morrison, Myrtle Morrison, and Aunt Felicia.

Visitation will be held on Nahla’s birthday, March 11, 2026 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 15, 2026 also at the funeral home followed by a graveside service at Glendale Cemetery.
