Randy F. McDaniel
March 16, 1948 — December 27, 2025
Randy McDaniel, age 77, passed away on Saturday, December 27, 2025. He was born the son of Marvis Omdahl and Jesse “Fred” McDaniel on March 16, 1948, in Des Moines, Iowa.
Randy proudly served in the Vietnam War with the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1969. He later went on to work as a press operator at Titan Tires for 32 years and retired in 2002. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy “Zip” McDaniel; sons, John (Christine) Hoskins and their daughter, Hanna (Tucker) Ksiazek and their children Beckett and Fletcher; Chad McDaniel, and his sons, Owen Fred and Ean John McDaniel; sisters, Mary Wilson, and Sheila Bandstra; and many nieces and nephews.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents and in laws; brother, Greg McDaniel; 2 brothers in law; 1 niece; and 2 nephews.
Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. 1 NE 60th Ave, Des Moines, IA 50313, with military honors.
The family warmly invites you to join them for a small gathering at 1715 SW Franklin Dr., Ankeny, IA 50023, one hour following the graveside service.

We are so sorry for your loss. Randy was a great guy. We remember when our dad and Randy would get together, those two could be so awnry, but, boy did they laugh. We are sending you so much love, hugs and prayers.

Wow, I haven’t seen Uncle Randy since I was a kid, but I do remember we had some good times when the fam got together and he was so damn funny. I am so sorry for your loss. All my hugs and love to the family. Don’t forget to tie the anchor to the boat, Uncle Randy. Rest Easy. ❤️
