Richard Lee Gooden II
July 05, 1972 — November 11, 2025
Richard Lee Gooden II
Mitchellville, Iowa | Age 53
Richard Lee Gooden II, 53, of Mitchellville, Iowa, passed away on November 11, 2025.
Richard was born to Richard Gooden I and Ruth Norton, and was raised by Ruth and his stepfather, the late Jim Norton. He grew up with his sister, Renee, and later gained a stepmother, Janice Gooden.
A true craftsman, Richard worked as a handyman and plumber, and proudly owned and operated his own contracting business. He was known for his hard work, his creativity, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Outside of work, Richard had a passion for thrifting and collecting—baseball cards, rocks, trinkets, shells, and just about anything that caught his eye. He loved gardening, even if he didn’t have the greenest thumb. He and his wife, Jennifer, shared a love for concerts, spending time with their children and grandchildren, and making memories together. Richard was thrilled to have seen the ocean and often dreamed of one day seeing the mountains.
A lifelong fan of the Grateful Dead and a lover of music, Richard found joy in simple pleasures and the people he loved most. He especially cherished his family—his wife Jennifer; his children Jacob Gooden, Morgan Gooden, and Cassie Floden (Dakota Hopper); and his beloved grandchildren Jillian, Adam, and Olivia. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and loyal friend.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Richard Gooden I, and stepfather, Jim Norton. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, mother Ruth Norton, stepmother Janice Gooden, sister Renee (Dean Owen), and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 17th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., and the funeral service will take place Tuesday, November 18th, at 2:00 p.m., both at Hamilton's Funeral Home in Mitchellville, 303 Center Ave., South, Mitchellville, Iowa.

I am so so sorry to family and friends to hear of the passing of Ritchie !!! Let you all have the happiest memories of him !! I lived across the street from Ritchie in Altoona where this ornery, joyful young boy (who was my son's friend) liked to hide in my garbage cans. It got to the point when I would come home, get out of the car to head inside that I would lift the garbage lid and say "Hi Ritchie". Haha, he couldn't get me anymore. Boys will be boys !! I remember him with love and fondness. May Jesus enter Ritchie Himself into his Heavenly home !!
