Robert Joseph Batty
May 30, 1954 — May 28, 2026
Robert Joseph Batty was born May 30, 1954, in Mitchellville, Iowa, and passed away peacefully at Rolling Green Village in Nevada, Iowa, on May 28, 2026. He was only two days from his 72nd birthday.
He was known to his friends and relatives as "Bob."
After his wedding to his wife, Cicele, he relocated his family to Thornton, Colorado, where they raised their three daughters and one son.
Bob was employed as a machinist for Gardner Denver. Bob loved to tinker and could fix almost anything. He single-handedly built a two-story home with three bedrooms upstairs for his three daughters.
Friends, neighbors, and family joked that Bob only needed duct tape and rubber bands and could make anything run again.
He loved to travel and see the sights. He liked to take his young children out walking in the fields to hunt rocks. He taught them to kick rocks to see the true colors inside, as any rockhound knows.
Returning to Mitchellville, Iowa, and staying close to his aging parents, he then became a machinist for Central Tractor.
Bob loved to square dance and after many years he met Collett Williams and 25 years later they were square dancing, traveling and having fun and became best friends until he had to enter Rolling Grand Village.
He is survived by his three daughters, Lynnette Lesher of Thornton, Colorado, Corinne Wright of Texas and Deborah Jonas of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his brother and older sister; his only son, Shannon Eric Batty.
He will be missed by his family and friends.

I have no idea how much you grieve for him, you were soulmates, you took care of each other and I never had to worry about him because you were there. I should have been there more, but talking about rock hunting. He would work in a plant near by that I could see as a little girl he said wave to me I will be home soon, hunting in the quartz mines , building a dirt bike out of a frame he got some where at the dump and a lawnmower engine, it only had one speed but that was enough. The memories run through me as I remember how happy when he went square dancing with you. The vacation you took to somewhere I don't know but the excitement and adventure he was going to have with you, filled my heart with joy, knowing you were always there for him. You are truly the worlds best Dad and I love you.
