Roger Michael West, 86, passed away on September 7, 2025 at Independence Village in Ankeny. He was born on November 6, 1938 in Des Moines to William and Margaret West.

Roger was a supervisor at EMCO before retiring after more than 46 years. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States National Guard. Roger enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and listening to “old” country music. His favorite hobby was making furniture.

Roger is survived by his children, James West, Michael (Sue Davies) West, Nancy (Shawn) Thornton and Allison (Nick) Saul; grandchildren, Ryan (Kylie) West, Lindsay (Wes) Sokol, Austin Saul and Grant Saul; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Everett, Elaina, Hayden and Mila; brothers, John West and Gary West, extended loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cherry; brothers, Dale West, Tom West and David West.

Family will greet guests on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Roger will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines, following his service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa in loving memory of Roger.
