Ruth Anne Pohlmeier, 58, passed away on January 5, 2026, surrounded by her family, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. She was born on August 19, 1967 in Des Moines to Richard and Patricia (Green) Boylan.

Ruth was crafty and loved sharing that love with her family. She decorated her own house and yard—and often her grandchildren’s too. She especially loved being with her grandchildren in any capacity – going to the drive-in movies, the Science Center, shopping, going out to eat or doing whatever activity they wanted as long as it was together. Ruth enjoyed gardening and had a deep love for plants. When you visited her home, there was always a snack waiting for you.

To say Ruth loved her job is an understatement. While working for Mainstream Living, where she treated everyone there like they were her own. Ruth just loved helping people! She was stubborn and famously late for everything, but she had a huge heart and always put everyone else before herself.

Ruth is survived by her children and grandchildren, Megan (Doug) McKim – JayLynn, Lucas, Mason, Weston; Rick (Misty) Pohlmeier – Braxton, Lexi, Michael, Gabe, Zach, Hunter; Robbie Brindle – Grayson, Casey, Maddox; Ryan (Andrea) Pohlmeier – Payton, Kassadie, Sherri, Landon, Emma; life partner, Bob Roam; sisters, Roxane, RaeLynn, Rhonda and Robin and brother, Rick Boylan.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronnie Boylan.

Family will greet guests on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
