Service Details

Sandy Sue Rossow, 73, passed away on October 3, 2025 at MercyOne in Des Moines. She was born on September 6, 1952 in Des Moines, to Bruce and Gertrude (Caldwell) Connett.

Sandy started her family and was married at a young age. She spent many years working as a manager at Kmart and formed lifelong friendships while she was there. Wanting to stay busy, she worked for the Des Moines Schools. Then when her sister started the disabilities transportation business she worked for 10 years. The company is named Sisters Transportation after the love for the sisters in the Connett family. Sandy always looked forward to talking many times a week to her sisters and they enjoy going out together at least once a month for lunches, shopping and movies. She enjoyed reading and her favorite books were romance novels. Her favorite thing was to lay out in the sun in a pool with her daughter and sisters and she loved a good tan. When Jim was alive, they loved watching sports like the Cubs, Bears and Iowa State together. They liked going to the local pub and visiting for hours with friends and dancing. She looked forward to spending time with her family and would always be up for adventure like trips to Chicago, going out for dinner, shopping and the casino from time to time.

She is survived by her loving children, Bill (Tracy) Hutchinson, Paula (DeAnna) Comstock, Bruce (Tina) Hutchinson, Tara Rossow and Jaime (Craig) Lonneman. Also, her grandchildren, Nic (Brett) Hutchinson, Whitnie (Thomas) Hutchinson, Kolby (Shannon) Hutchinson, Nate Fisher and Cade Fisher; 3 great grandchildren, and a host of extended family and friends. Her surviving siblings are George Connett, Alma Ziebell, Barbara (Michael) Houseman, Robin (Todd) Connett, and Warren (Mary) Connett.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, James R. Rossow, her sisters Judy Green, Sally Connett and brother Bruce Connett.

Family will greet guests on Monday, October 6, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines.
