Sherry Lynn Carpenter
Grimes, Iowa
Sherry Lynn Carpenter, 56, passed away on April 12, 2025, in Grimes. She was born on December 19, 1968 in Des Moines to Steven and Judy (Whistler) Cardis.
Sherry retired in 2023 as an administrator with CMSi. She graduated from East High School in 1987. Sherry met her husband, Todd in October of 1988 and they married in November of 1990. Coincidently, they started working at the same place on the same date by accident – due to a wrong turn off of the elevator. Sherry and Todd loved to travel and vacation with family and friends. She loved playing cards, pickle ball, game night with friends, watching the Hallmark channel and her favorite movie - Sweet Home Alabama. Sherry enjoyed fishing and camping and loved her pets. She would ring in the new year untraditionally by having her family clank together pots and pans. Sherry had a strong faith in God. Above all else, she loved her family, especially her grandkids.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband, Todd; daughters, Kacie (Sam) Anderson and Chloe Carpenter; granddaughters, Eleanor and Violet; dad, Steven Cardis; sister, Teresa (Damon) Punsalan and brother, Steve Cardis.
She is preceded in death by her mom, Judy and grandparents.
Family will greet guests on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Sherry will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCan), in loving memory of Sherry.

So sorry to hear of her passing. We attended Grace Wesleyan Church with Sherry and her family years ago. She always welcomed us with her beautiful smile and said we looked the same as we had in those earlier years.

I went to High School with Sherry. She was best friends with my cousin Tammy Burns. She was such a nice person. I ran into her a few times over the years and it was always great seeing her. A life well lived.
