Sandra Kay Longfellow

Sandra Kay Longfellow, age 74, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Valley View Village Care Facility.

Sandy was born November 11, 1949, in Davenport, Iowa to Hans and Wilma (McFarland) Stock. She met her husband Joe while taking classes at the University of Iowa. After being friends for over a year, Joe asked Sandy to marry him and they were married in Davenport, IA on November 18th, 1972. Joe and Sandy spent 51 joyful years together working to serve the Lord.

Sandy enjoyed being a Christian and working with her church family at Grandview Church of Christ. She taught 5th and 6th grade and prepared the church bulletin for many years. Sandy was known for being a generous and encouraging person, touching the lives of all who knew her. She hand-sewed baby quiet books for every family at the church with a newborn child for over 30 years. These books has been loved and cherished by these families and new mothers eagerly awaited their special, handmade gift. Her chief enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her two granddaughters who she loved dearly. Sandy also loved antiquing, going to craft fairs, playing dominos with her friends, and laughing with her husband Joe.

She is survived by her husband, Joe Longfellow; daughters, Ann Longfellow and Sharon Morgan, son-in-law Jeff Morgan, granddaughters Kristen King (husband Brenden) and Allyson Morgan. Sister, Patricia Stock, Brother Lawrence Stock (wife May). Nephew, Michael Stock (wife Martha) and Laura DeBoer (husband Curt) and numerous grand nieces.

Sandy was preceded in death by her mother and father Wilma and Hans Stock.

Services will be held at Grandview Church of Christ, 2736 Hubbell Avenue, Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Grandview Church of Christ.
