Steven Craig Hutton

Steven Craig Hutton, age 59, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Steve was born May 8, 1966, in Des Moines, Iowa to Jerome Dane Hutton and Frances Marie Hutton. He graduated from East High School in Des Moines in 1984. He served briefly in the U. S. Navy and worked in construction and asphalt for most of his life. Steven also did some mechanic work.

Steve enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his kids and grandkids. He also enjoyed fishing, watching the Minnesota Vikings play and everything about racing, from watching a race on TV to working on a racecar in a garage. Steve enjoyed sitting outdoors blaring some rock and roll “tunes”. If he was listening to music, so were the neighbors! He was ready to bust a move at any moment! If you knew Steve, (if you were from the Eastside, you probably do!) you know he didn’t go anywhere without a beer in his hand and a fireball in his pocket!

Steve is survived by his daughters, Kaylynn Hutton and Krystal Wilson; son, Steven (Jamie) Crees; brother, Mike Hutton; five grandchildren, Rachael, Devin, Audrey, Steven Jr and Pedro; one great-grandchild, Jaxson; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Frances Hutton; brother, Brian Hutton; and sisters, Debra Hatfield and Anita Davis.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Graveside service will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
