Thomas Ray Spray
Altoona, Iowa
Thomas Ray Spray, 83, passed away on October 26, 2025 at Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Altoona. He was born on February 23, 1942 in Des Moines to Edwin and Alma (Gambrel) Spray.
Tom retired from the Des Moines Public Schools as a custodian. In his spare time, he enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching NASCAR.
Tom is survived by his son, Thomas Spray, Jr.; granddaughter, Savanna and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Spray and sister Marjorie McDowell.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 7, 2025 at 12:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa. Tom will be laid to rest at Highland Memory Gardens, 1 NE 60th Ave., Des Moines, Iowa.

To our misfortune over the past years, we lost track of Tom, but the memories Tom created for us has never left us. Memories that have always brought a smile to our faces, rather it was the days we spent together at the Moose Lodge, or taking off on many road trips with no idea on where we would end up, and countless others. God speed Tom Spray and THANK YOU for all the great memories.
