Lucretia "Chris" DeCarlo Jones
October 02, 2011
Lucretia “Chris” DeCarlo Jones passed away on Sunday, October 2, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, after a long, courageous fight with cancer.
Chris was born to Joe and Phyllis DeCarlo on September 17, 1957, in Des Moines. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1975. After graduating college, she worked in the financial industry for 35 years, most recently at Hewlett Packard as an Advanced Business Analyst. On August 2, 2001, Chris was united in marriage to Don Jones.
Chris will be remembered as a beautiful, thoughtful and caring person. She never missed the opportunity to tell someone she loved them. She was a dedicated and hard worker but loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. Those who knew and loved her will be forever grateful for her beauty, grace and love of life.
Those left to cherish Chris’ memory are her husband, Donald Jones, Jr.; her step-daughter, Caroline Jones; her mother, Phyllis DeCarlo; her sister, Jody (Jeff) Crane; her nieces, Kelly (Joseph) Johnston and Katie Crane; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Chris was preceded in death by her father, Joseph DeCarlo; her paternal grandparents, Rocco and Lucretia DeCarlo; and maternal grandparents, Dino and Virgene Masolini.
Family will greet friends on Wednesday, October 5, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, at St. Ambrose Cathedral, 6th and High, in Des Moines. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Lung Association in Iowa for lung cancer research or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Chris DeCarlo Jones.

Dear Mrs. DeCarlo and Jody,
I was so sad to read about Chris' recent passing. It's hard when our loved ones leave us, especially when they're so young. I have fond memories of my younger years being with Chris and you Jody - playing softball together and friends at school. Chris was always so kind and nice to my sister Susan and and me. She was a lovely person and I feel blessed to have known her. My Dad passed away just a few days after Chris so I'm greiving as well - he meant the world to me just as I know Chris did to you both. My prayers are with you, God bless.

Chris was a wonderful person. Unfortunately, I had lost contact with her after she moved back to Des Moines from Kansas City. But I have fond memories of our friendship. We worked together at the Trust back in the 80's and kept in touch after we both left Des Moines. Chris was very professional and conscientious. As well as great to work with and have fun with. My sympathy is with you.

Chris was one of those people who you could meet once and remember forever.
In our first meeting, she made me feel so at ease that I might as well have grown up with her. When my husband and I had our son a couple of years ago, I knew she was celebrating across the miles in Iowa. I could feel it in every swirl of her handwriting and felt very much loved.
Our family is mourning here in Chicago. We have all lost a great friend. God bless you, Chris.

I worked with Chris at Financial Information Trust for 7 years - what a super co-worker she was. Just today I said to another co-worker "Thank you very large," something that Chris always said. I have not seen her for years but think of her often and was so sorry to read about her passing. Her smile, helpfulness, and enthusiasm for life, I will never forget. She is at peace now. God bless her family and loved ones in the days ahead - you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the pleasure of working with Chris when she was on my team at HP for about three years. I have to say she was one of the nicest, most hard working people I've been around. She touched many lives of the people she worked with at EDS and HP and she will be truly missed here. I know her warm, positive spirit will live on which brings us peace. Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss and may God's grace embrace your family during this time.
